Frequently asked
About PSLE in Singapore
What is the PSLE in Singapore?
The Primary School Leaving Examination is the national exam taken by every Primary 6 student in MOE schools. Conducted by SEAB across English, Math, Science and Mother Tongue, the score is used to post students into Secondary 1.
How is the PSLE scored under the AL system?
Each subject is graded AL1βAL8 (best = AL1). The PSLE Score is the sum of the four ALs (best = 4, worst = 32). Foundation subjects are mapped to a separate AL band; Higher Mother Tongue is used only as a tie-breaker for choice schools.
When is the PSLE held?
The written papers run between mid-September and early October each year, with the Oral and Listening components a few weeks earlier. Results are released by SEAB in late November.
How early should my child start PSLE tuition?
Most Eduprime families start in Primary 5 to build the foundation, then intensify in Primary 6 with weekly past-paper practice. Late-starters in P6 are still common β the curriculum prioritises filling gaps before drilling.
Can I find a tutor for just one PSLE subject?
Yes. Eduprime matches subject-specialist tutors β many parents pair a Math tutor with a separate English tutor depending on the child's gaps. Mother Tongue tutors are available in Chinese, Malay and Tamil including the Higher MTL syllabus.
Does Eduprime offer home or online PSLE tuition?
Both. Home tuition is available islandwide; online lessons over video are an option for families with tight schedules or for tutors travelling beyond the typical district.
