Become a tutor with Eduprime Singapore

Central Singapore's home Chemistry tutor jobs serve three kinds of student, because this small ring of towns packs secondary schools, Integrated Programme schools and junior colleges close together. Secondary students sit O-Level Chemistry. Integrated Programme students skip the O-Levels and work from notes their school writes. Junior college students take H1 or H2 Chemistry, and in this region their enquiries run heavily from March through to the mid-year promotional exams. Eduprime wants home Chemistry tutors who can teach one or more of these groups in Bishan, Toa Payoh, Novena, Bukit Timah, Queenstown, Bukit Merah, Kallang, Geylang and Marine Parade. You choose the levels and the towns, we offer you assignments that fit them, and each lesson is one-to-one at the student's own dining table.

Getting around Central Singapore

  • For a tutor on the red line, the Thomson corridor is one straight ride: Toa Payoh, Braddell, Bishan, Novena and Newton follow each other, and most Chemistry homes there are a short walk from a station.
  • Bishan is also a Circle Line interchange, and the Circle Line runs on to Botanic Gardens and Farrer Road, where it meets the Downtown Line stations that serve Bukit Timah: King Albert Park, Sixth Avenue, Tan Kah Kee and Beauty World.
  • To the south and west, Queenstown sits on the East-West Line one stop from the Buona Vista interchange, and Bukit Merah is served by Redhill, Tiong Bahru, Outram Park, Telok Blangah and HarbourFront across four lines.
  • East of the city, Kallang and Geylang homes are reached through Kallang, Aljunied, Paya Lebar and Mountbatten, and since 2024 Marine Parade has its own stations on the Thomson-East Coast Line.
  • Lessons fall mostly in after-school afternoons and evenings, and the compact rail network makes it practical to hold a lesson in one central town and another in the next town over on the same evening.

The role

What you will do

  • Teach Chemistry one-to-one at the student's home, at the O-Level, Integrated Programme or H1/H2 level you registered for.
  • Open with a diagnostic on the student's latest test or worksheet and find the topic where marks are leaking, whether that is mole calculations, bonding explanations or equilibrium.
  • Plan each lesson around the school's current topic, so the student keeps pace with class while the weak foundation is repaired alongside it.
  • Teach practical skills on paper: reading titration results, writing qualitative analysis observations in the exact words mark schemes reward, and planning an experiment from a question.
  • Work from the school-set notes an Integrated Programme student brings, and match your explanations to the depth that school expects.
  • Set focused practice between lessons and give the student a short, plain written note on what improved and what needs more time.
  • Keep your weekly slot, arrive on time, and give your student and us early notice of any change.

What we look for

  • A strong Chemistry result above the level you teach: a good A-Level H2 Chemistry grade for O-Level students, and a chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy or related science degree, or current study toward one, for H1 and H2 students.
  • Secure knowledge of the current MOE Chemistry syllabus at your chosen level, including organic chemistry and the practical and planning components.
  • The patience to explain abstract ideas such as electron movement and energy changes in more than one way until the student can explain them back.
  • A fixed weekly slot you can keep for the whole school term, and easy travel to your chosen towns in Central Singapore.
  • Teaching and progress notes both run in clear spoken and written English.

Questions

Questions from Chemistry tutors

Which towns does this role cover?

Bishan, Toa Payoh, Novena, Bukit Timah, Queenstown, Bukit Merah, Kallang, Geylang and Marine Parade. You choose the towns you want offers from, and you can add or remove towns later from your educator account.

Which levels will I teach?

O-Level Chemistry, Integrated Programme Chemistry and A-Level H1 or H2 Chemistry. You pick the levels that match your own results, and we only offer you assignments at those levels.

How do I teach practical Chemistry without a lab?

Home lessons use paper, a small whiteboard or a tablet. Students practise the written side of practical work, such as processing titration readings, recording qualitative analysis observations and planning an experiment, which is exactly how these skills are tested on paper.

Do I need tutoring experience?

Tutoring experience helps, and it is optional. A strong Chemistry result, sound syllabus knowledge and clear explanations are what we check first.

How is pay decided?

Chemistry pay follows the hourly band printed here. Every assignment offer names its rate before you accept, and where it falls depends on the student's level and your credentials.

Can I also teach Chemistry online?

Yes. Tell us in your educator account that you are open to online lessons. When learners ask for online Chemistry at your level, including those outside Singapore through the Eduprime network, we can offer you those lessons as well, alongside your home assignments.
