North-East Singapore's home Chemistry tutor jobs follow the age of each town. Ang Mo Kio, Serangoon and Hougang are settled estates with large upper-secondary and junior college cohorts, so O-Level Pure Chemistry and H2 Chemistry requests gather there. Sengkang and Punggol are younger towns where the first large cohorts are now reaching Sec 3 and Sec 4, and upper-secondary science is growing with them. Eduprime is taking on Chemistry tutors who can meet a student at the level the last marked paper shows, whether that is a Sec 3 meeting the mole for the first time or a JC 2 student working through organic mechanisms before the A-Level. Working in the North-East
- Every town here hangs off the purple North East Line, from Serangoon out to Punggol Coast. Tutors who live beyond the region usually come in through Serangoon on the Circle Line or through Ang Mo Kio on the North South Line.
- Sengkang and Punggol each have an LRT ring that drops you near the blocks of Anchorvale, Compassvale, Fernvale, Rivervale and Punggol Field, handy when you carry a bag of past papers between lessons.
- Upper-secondary Chemistry comes from the Hougang secondaries such as Holy Innocents' High and Montfort Secondary, and from Compassvale Secondary and Nan Chiau High in Sengkang. H2 Chemistry comes largely from Anderson Serangoon JC students living in Ang Mo Kio and around Yio Chu Kang.
- Around Hougang and Kovan, after-school lessons run from about 3pm to 8pm on weekdays. Sengkang students also book weekend slots, and Pure Chemistry requests build ahead of the prelim window.
- Chemistry tutors tend to keep a tight base, perhaps Serangoon, Hougang and Ang Mo Kio for the JC students, or Sengkang with Punggol for Sec 3 and Sec 4, so two evening lessons sit on one short ride.
The role
What you will do
- Open with a diagnostic lesson built on the student's latest marked script, and find the step where marks were lost, which in Chemistry is often the mole arithmetic underneath a longer question.
- Rebuild stoichiometry, concentration and limiting-reagent work in order, while keeping the topic the school is teaching this term moving for the next class test.
- Coach qualitative analysis as exact observation language, and titration method through to the calculation that follows the average titre.
- Teach organic chemistry as electron movement, with curly arrows drawn the way examiners expect, for students at both O-Level and A-Level.
- Prepare O-Level students for the practical and planning demands of their papers, and H2 students for Paper 4 and its planning question.
- Every block of lessons ends with a clear read-out for the student: what is improving, what still needs work, and when extra hours before a prelim or major exam would pay off. The parent who registered a student under 18 can receive the same note.
What we look for
- A good A-Level H2 Chemistry grade to teach O-Level Pure Chemistry, and a degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, pharmacy, life sciences or medicine to teach H1 or H2 students.
- Current command of the syllabus you register for, including qualitative analysis tables and experimental planning.
- You keep a fixed weekly slot and get yourself to each student's home on time.
- Clear, patient explanation for a student who is anxious about the subject, and plain progress reporting the student can act on.
- Tutoring or classroom experience is welcome. Fresh graduates with strong Chemistry results are encouraged to apply.
Pay
Hourly rate for this role
S$40 to S$100 per hour
Where you sit in the band depends on the level you teach and the experience you bring. The rate is agreed before you accept an assignment and paid on schedule.

Home tuition in Singapore is open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and holders of a valid pass that allows this work. We check your eligibility before your first lesson. Serving MOE teachers need MOE approval before taking paid tuition. Lessons run at the learner's home or online, and online lessons are taught from Singapore.

Must I take students in all five towns?
No. You list the towns you are happy to travel to, and we only offer you students there. A common pairing is Serangoon, Hougang and Ang Mo Kio for H2 work, or Sengkang and Punggol along the LRT rings for upper secondary.
