East Singapore's home Chemistry tutor jobs take you into Tampines, Bedok and Pasir Ris homes, one student at a time. Along one short run of the green line sit a dense cluster of secondary schools, three junior colleges and two Integrated Programme tracks, so the students here range from a Sec 3 pupil who has just met mole calculations to an H2 candidate drafting an answer to the planning question. Tell us which chemistry levels you can handle and which nights and weekends are open, and we pair you with students in Tampines, Bedok and Pasir Ris whose requests line up. Teaching chemistry in the east
- The three towns follow the East-West Line in order, Bedok first, then Tampines, then Pasir Ris, and Tampines doubles as the Downtown Line interchange. A pair of weekday evening lessons in two different towns fits comfortably.
- Homes in Bedok are near Bedok or Tanah Merah on the green line, or Bedok North and Bedok Reservoir on the blue line. Tampines has Tampines, Tampines East and Tampines West. Pasir Ris is the last green-line stop, a single station beyond Tampines.
- O-Level Chemistry requests come mostly from Sec 3 and Sec 4 students at Junyuan, Springfield, Greendale, Pasir Ris Crest, Loyang View and Hai Sing Catholic, taking pure or combined science. H1 and H2 requests arrive all year and thicken before promos and the A-Levels.
- Until late 2027, Temasek JC classes run from a temporary campus on Tampines Avenue 9 while the Bedok South Road site is rebuilt, so its students usually keep Tampines school hours.
- The future Cross Island Line will turn Pasir Ris MRT into an interchange and add a Tampines North station, cutting travel into the newer northern estates.
The role
What you will do
- Go to the student's flat or house in Tampines, Bedok or Pasir Ris for one fixed lesson each week, one to one.
- Open each new assignment by working through a recent marked test or exam script to find where the marks went.
- Rebuild the mole chain behind stoichiometry, concentration and percentage yield, so equilibrium and titration answers stop losing marks in the arithmetic.
- Coach qualitative analysis down to the exact observation wording, and organic reactions as electron movement, with curly arrows placed the way examiners expect.
- Prepare H2 candidates for the planning question and O-Level candidates for the practical paper, including variables, controls and safety reasoning.
- Pace Integrated Programme students on the Temasek JC and Victoria tracks against their own school assessment calendar.
- Close each lesson by telling the student what has improved, what still needs work and whether more lesson time would help.
What we look for
- For Sec 3 and Sec 4 Chemistry students, a strong grade in H2 Chemistry.
- For H1 and H2 students, a degree with real chemistry in it, for example in pharmacy, chemical engineering, the life sciences or medicine.
- Working command of the current syllabus you sign up for, including qualitative analysis tables, titration calculations and organic mechanisms.
- Punctual arrival at homes across the eastern towns for the same lesson time each week.
- Patience with one-to-one teaching and the habit of reporting progress to the student plainly. NIE-trained tutors and former MOE teachers are welcome, and undergraduates can apply for O-Level work.
Pay
Hourly rate for this role
S$40 to S$100 per hour
Where you sit in the band depends on the level you teach and the experience you bring. The rate is agreed before you accept an assignment and paid on schedule.
Who can take home assignments
Home tuition in Singapore is open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and holders of a valid pass that allows this work. We check your eligibility before your first lesson. Serving MOE teachers need MOE approval before taking paid tuition. Lessons run at the learner's home or online, and online lessons are taught from Singapore.

Which chemistry levels do students in the east ask for?
Most requests are Sec 3 and Sec 4 pure or combined Chemistry from the Tampines and Pasir Ris secondaries, plus H1 or H2 Chemistry from Tampines Meridian JC, Temasek JC and Victoria JC students. Integrated Programme students on the Temasek JC and Victoria tracks ask too, as do some IB and IGCSE students at UWCSEA East in Tampines and Overseas Family School in Pasir Ris.
Do I need teaching experience?
It helps, and it moves you to JC work sooner. For O-Level students we look first at a good H2 Chemistry grade and a clear grasp of the syllabus, and undergraduates and fresh graduates apply regularly.
How do I get between lessons in the east?
Most homes are a short walk from a green-line or blue-line station. Bedok, Tampines and Pasir Ris follow each other on one East-West Line ride, so pairing a Tampines lesson with a later one in Pasir Ris the same evening is easy.
Can I teach Integrated Programme students?
Yes. IP students at Temasek JC and on the Victoria School track skip the O-Levels, so their chemistry follows the school's own tests and schedule. Tell us in your application if you are comfortable pacing against internal assessments.
What decides my hourly rate?
