Home physics tutor jobs in East Singapore put you beside the students who first meet algebra doing real work in physics: a force diagram that has to balance, a circuit that has to add up, a graph whose gradient means something. We are looking for tutors who can sit at the kitchen table with a Sec 3 student or a JC candidate and make that work make sense. Lessons happen in the student's own home somewhere in the east, you set the slots you can keep, and we offer you requests that match your levels and your part of the east. When a request suits you, you take it on and teach it through to the exam.

Teaching physics across the east

  • Bedok, Tampines and Pasir Ris sit on one straight run of the East-West Line, with Simei and Tanah Merah in between, so a Bedok lesson followed by a Pasir Ris lesson on the same evening is a short ride.
  • Tampines is where the East-West Line meets the Downtown Line. The Downtown Line threads through the northern side of Bedok and Tampines, with stops such as Bedok Reservoir and Tampines West close to many HDB blocks.
  • Sec 3 and Sec 4 physics requests come regularly from the neighbourhood secondaries in Tampines and Pasir Ris, including Junyuan, Springfield, Greendale, Pasir Ris Crest and Loyang View.
  • JC work follows the colleges nearby. Until its redeveloped Bedok South campus reopens, Temasek Junior College runs classes from a temporary site in Tampines, and Tampines Meridian Junior College is at Pasir Ris Street 71, so JC lessons often cluster in Tampines and Pasir Ris.
  • Lessons mostly run on weekday evenings, and tutors in the east often hold two back-to-back slots in different towns. JC requests tend to rise before promotional exams and the A-Levels.

The role

What you will do

  • Teach one-to-one in the student's flat or house, anywhere from Bedok to Pasir Ris, on a weekly slot fixed when the booking is confirmed.
  • Map the term to the student's school calendar, so topics, practical preparation and revision land before the matching school test.
  • Build measurement skills at the table: reading scales from diagrams, recording data, handling uncertainty and drawing a best-fit line the gradient can be taken from.
  • Work through past-year and prelim questions, then go through each marked script with the student until every lost mark has a named cause.
  • Track the misconceptions that keep returning, such as a missing force on a diagram or a sign that flips mid-calculation, and set practice aimed at each one.
  • Give each student a short, specific account of what has improved, keep lesson times reliable, and flag it early to the student and whoever made the booking when a slot has to move.

What we look for

  • For Sec 3 and Sec 4 students, at least an A-Level pass in H2 Physics or an equivalent qualification.
  • For JC students, a degree, finished or under way, in physics, engineering or another quantitative science, and confidence with the H2 topics that lean on mathematics.
  • Working knowledge of the current O-Level 6091, H1 8867 or H2 9478 syllabus, whichever you plan to teach.
  • Punctual arrival at east-side homes for every weekly slot you accept.
  • Good spoken English, calm and approachable with teenagers and JC students alike.

Questions

Questions from physics tutors

Which physics levels are open in the east?

We accept tutors for Sec 3 and Sec 4 O-Level Physics and for JC physics at H1 and H2. Integrated Programme students on a school-set assessment plan also come up, so tell us if you are comfortable pacing lessons to a school's own tests.

Is living in the east required?

Living nearby makes travel easier, and it is optional. What matters is arriving on time at every east-side home on your schedule. The East-West and Downtown lines make the region easy to reach from many parts of Singapore.

How is the pay set?

You are paid by the hour in Singapore dollars, inside the range printed above. Each request's rate reflects the student's level alongside your own qualifications and classroom experience.

How do I help a student with the practical at home?

The practical itself is done in the school lab. At home you prepare the skills it tests: reading instruments from clear diagrams, recording readings to the right precision, estimating uncertainty, plotting data and taking a gradient from the line the student drew.

How soon will I get my first student?

That depends on students in the east asking for the levels you teach at times you are free, so the timing varies from tutor to tutor. Offering more evenings, more towns or both H1 and H2 widens the requests we can send you.

Can I teach online as well?

Yes. Online lessons can be switched on from the same educator account. Some Singapore students prefer online lessons, especially at JC level, and as our intake grows, students from other countries may ask for your subject and level too. Each online request depends on the learner choosing that mode.
