Become a tutor with Eduprime Singapore

West Singapore's home physics tutor jobs sit close to NUS at Kent Ridge, NTU at Jurong West and SUSS at Clementi Road, and many of the secondary and JC students who ask us for physics help live a short ride from those campuses. Eduprime wants physics tutors to sit with these students in their own living rooms, singly or with a sibling or classmate alongside, across everything from O-Level Physics 6091 through H1 8867 and H2 9478. The work covers pure and combined science physics at neighbourhood secondaries across the region, the three-year A-Level track at Millennia Institute in Bukit Batok, JC students at Jurong Pioneer JC and River Valley High, and IP students around Clementi who work beyond the O-Level syllabus. You tell us the towns and weekly slots that suit you, and we match you by level and area. Tutors who also want online lessons can use the same account to be offered online students in Singapore, and later students in other countries as learners there ask Eduprime for physics.

Getting around the west

  • The East-West and North-South lines cross at Jurong East, so a tutor on either line reaches homes in Yuhua and Toh Guan in a single ride and can carry on to Clementi or Bukit Batok for a second lesson the same evening.
  • The Downtown Line ends at Bukit Panjang, and its LRT runs through the estates and on to Choa Chu Kang, keeping back-to-back physics lessons in the north-west within a short ride.
  • Boon Lay and Jurong West sit on the green line beside NTU, and buses from Boon Lay Bus Interchange run to the NTU and NIE campuses, which suits tutors who study or live on campus.
  • Tengah has no MRT station yet; its Jurong Region Line stations open in stages from mid-2028, and until then a feeder bus from Bukit Batok or Choa Chu Kang brings you in.
  • Weekday evenings and weekends are the slots most west learners ask for, since school, CCA and lectures fill their days around the Jurong Lake District.

The role

What you will do

  • Run a weekly physics lesson in the student's home, paced to the school's topic order and to the dates of the practical and theory papers.
  • Get the practical paper ready early by drilling readings, uncertainty, tables and graphs, then keep that judgement working on the graph and uncertainty questions buried inside the theory papers.
  • Have students reproduce definitions, laws and derivations on blank paper using the exact phrasing the syllabus prints, then correct them line by line.
  • Set and mark past-year and school prelim questions against the published mark scheme, walking the student through every mark gained and every mark dropped.
  • Adapt the pace for Millennia Institute's three-year timetable and for IP students who meet topics ahead of the O-Level order.
  • Keep lesson times reliable across the term and give each student a short, specific note on what has improved and what comes next.

What we look for

  • Command of the physics you will teach: O-Level 6091 for secondary students, and H1 8867 or H2 9478 for JC students, including the practical components.
  • A strong A-Level or equivalent physics result, or current study toward physics, engineering or another quantitative degree. NIE-trained and former MOE physics teachers are welcome.
  • Clear spoken English and the patience to explain one step at a time at a student's desk.
  • Willingness to travel within the west on the MRT, LRT and bus network, to the towns you choose.
  • Punctuality and the same weekly hours kept free through the school term.

Hourly rate for this role

S$40 to S$100 per hour

Where you sit in the band depends on the level you teach and the experience you bring. The rate is agreed before you accept an assignment and paid on schedule.

Who can take home assignments

Home tuition in Singapore is open to Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and holders of a valid pass that allows this work. We check your eligibility before your first lesson. Serving MOE teachers need MOE approval before taking paid tuition. Lessons run at the learner's home or online, and online lessons are taught from Singapore.

How it works

How it works

  1. 01

    Apply here

Fill in the form here with the physics levels you can take on, your results or qualifications, and which west towns you would travel to.

  2. 02

    Create your educator account

Next, follow the link we email you to our educator app, set up your account, and list your subjects, towns and weekly hours there. Matching runs on those details.

  3. 03

    Get matched with students

Once a west student requests physics at one of your levels, you receive the student's level, school syllabus, town and preferred slot, and you accept or pass.

  4. 04

    Teach and get paid

Lessons happen at the student's home at the agreed time. Your hourly SGD rate sits inside the band printed here, and payment arrives on schedule.

Questions

Questions from physics tutors

Which physics levels will I teach?

Secondary students sitting O-Level Physics 6091 or the physics half of combined science, and JC students sitting H1 8867 or H2 9478. Some IP students in Clementi need physics taught ahead of the usual order. You choose which of these levels you accept.

Must I be based in the west to apply?

Living nearby shortens your travel, and it helps. Tutors from other regions take west lessons too, because Jurong East and Bukit Panjang connect to the city on direct lines. You name the towns you are happy to cover.

What is different about teaching Millennia Institute students?

The three-year A-Level route at Millennia Institute means its students reach each physics topic later than a two-year JC student. We ask you to plan around their school's own schedule.

How is my hourly rate set?

This page prints the hourly band for home physics. Where you land inside it reflects the physics level, your qualifications and your years in front of students, and NIE-trained and former MOE teachers are placed toward the top.

How do I prepare students for the practical without lab equipment at home?

Students do the hands-on work at school. At home you rehearse the method, the readings, the table layout, the uncertainty and the graph, using past practical papers, so the student walks into the lab knowing what each step is for.

Can I also teach online, or teach students outside Singapore?

Online physics is available on the same educator account, with Singapore students first; when learners in other countries ask Eduprime for physics, they can be offered to you too.
