Apply as a home maths tutor- S$35 to S$90 per hour
- Contract, flexible hours
- In the student's home, West Singapore

West Singapore's home maths tutor jobs are open now, with Eduprime recruiting tutors for learners across the region. The lessons happen at the student's home in Boon Lay, Bukit Batok, Bukit Panjang, Choa Chu Kang, Clementi, Jurong East, Jurong West and Tengah. Maths in the west covers the whole ladder. Large HDB towns such as Jurong West, Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang carry heavy PSLE work, the secondary schools keep E-Maths and A-Maths busy all year, and older students bring H1 and H2 Mathematics from junior college or from Millennia Institute's three-year route in Bukit Batok. Your levels, towns and free evenings or weekends go on your profile, and each matching request from a west learner comes to you to accept or pass.
Getting around the west
- Jurong East is where the west's two main lines cross. The green line carries on through Clementi, Chinese Garden, Lakeside, Boon Lay and Pioneer, and the red line heads north to Bukit Batok, Bukit Gombak, Choa Chu Kang and Yew Tee. A maths tutor's evening usually stays on one of them.
- Bukit Panjang is on the Downtown Line with Cashew and Hillview, and its LRT loop reaches most blocks. Choa Chu Kang has LRT stops of its own at South View, Keat Hong, Teck Whye and Phoenix, which makes these two towns an easy pair for one evening.
- Tengah is Singapore's newest HDB town and is reached today by feeder bus through Bukit Batok, with Jurong Region Line stations planned for the town. Many of its residents are young, so the maths learners there are mostly lower-primary pupils working on number sense and early problem sums.
- Learners around Jurong East and the Jurong Lake District tend to book evening and weekend slots, working adults among them, and upper-primary lessons across the region usually run weekday evenings after CCA.
- NUS, NTU and SUSS all sit inside or beside the region, so undergraduates and fresh graduates living on campus or in the west can reach heartland homes quickly between classes.
The role
What you will do
- Arrive at the student's home for the agreed weekly lesson with material ready for that week's topic.
- Find the earlier topic behind a repeated error, such as fractions behind a ratio problem or index laws behind a failed differentiation question, and rebuild it first.
- Teach the jumps that trip students most: model drawing into algebra at the end of primary, E-Maths into A-Maths calculus at Sec 3, and O-Level into H2 at junior college.
- Give timed papers in exam conditions and mark them to the paper's scheme, working and method marks included.
- Adjust your pacing for students on different tracks, including the three-year Millennia Institute route and Integrated Programme students working off the O-Level syllabus.
- Every cycle of lessons ends with a brief, plain note to the learner on what has improved and what you will tackle next; for a younger learner, the registrant gets a copy.
What we look for
- Strong command of the maths you offer, from PSLE model drawing and heuristics through E-Maths and A-Maths to H1 and H2 Mathematics.
- A good result in mathematics or a related field at A-Level or degree level, or real experience teaching local students.
- Undergraduates, fresh graduates, current or former school teachers and career tutors are all welcome.
- Punctual, reliable and able to keep a regular weekly slot at the learner's home.
- Clear, patient communication in English with learners of every age, and with a parent or guardian when the learner is young.

Questions
Questions from maths tutors in the west
Do I need tutoring experience to apply?
Prior tutoring experience is optional. A strong grasp of the maths you offer matters most, shown through your own results or through teaching you have done. Many tutors start with the level they know best, such as PSLE or E-Maths, and add levels once they are settled.
Which maths levels come up most often in the west?
Upper-primary PSLE maths is the largest layer, especially in big HDB towns such as Jurong West, Choa Chu Kang and Bukit Panjang. Secondary E-Maths and A-Maths requests come from schools across the region, and H1 and H2 Mathematics comes from students at Jurong Pioneer JC, Millennia Institute and other colleges. Tengah's requests are mostly lower primary for now.
Can I choose which towns I travel to?
Yes. Your list of towns decides which requests you see, by level and town. Some maths tutors keep to the green-line side (Clementi, Jurong East, Boon Lay) and others to the red-line side (Bukit Batok, Choa Chu Kang), so an evening needs little travel.
What should I know before teaching an IP or Millennia Institute student?
Check the student's programme first. NUS High in Clementi runs its own diploma and River Valley High runs a six-year Integrated Programme, so their maths moves off the standard O-Level papers. Millennia Institute students take A-Levels over three years, which changes the pacing you would plan for a two-year JC student.
How is the hourly pay set?
Maths is paid hourly from the band on this page. Your level, results and teaching background set your rate, and every request shows it before you accept.
Is online teaching possible alongside the home lessons?
Yes. Once you join, you can open your profile to online lessons as well; online requests start in Singapore, and as the Eduprime network grows, students abroad who want Singapore-syllabus maths may be matched with you.
