Online Chinese enrichment tutor jobs at Eduprime pair you with children aged about four to nine who are meeting Mandarin as a second language. Most of them live in English-speaking homes in Singapore. Some are in K1 or K2 with Primary 1 coming up; others are in P1 or P2 and have started to find Chinese harder than English. The aim is for the language to feel familiar and friendly to each child, so the lessons run on stories, songs, picture talk and games, with speaking always coming first. You teach every lesson over video from where you live, and a parent or another adult in the household stays near the child throughout. For a four-year-old that means sitting alongside; for an older child it can mean being in the next room with the door open. Progress in this role shows up as a child who answers in Mandarin unprompted, sings along, or points at a character and asks what it says.

The role
What you will do
- Teach live online Chinese enrichment lessons to pre-school and lower-primary children, with a parent or another adult nearby.
- Build listening and speaking first through stories, songs, picture description, role-play and games suited to a screen.
- Introduce simplified Chinese characters through recognition and play, and bring in Hanyu Pinyin once the child reaches it in school.
- For a child close to Primary 1, give some of each lesson the shape of a class: following a spoken instruction, finishing one story, naming classroom objects.
- Greet the parent at the start, invite them in when a song or game needs a partner, and close with a short spoken update in English.
- Keep a brief written note after each lesson describing what the child said, sang or recognised that week.
What we look for
- Fluent spoken Mandarin with clear standard pronunciation, because every lesson is taught in Mandarin to children who are still learning to hear its tones.
- Good spoken English, because most of these children speak English at home and the end-of-lesson updates to the parent happen in English.
- Real time spent with children aged about four to nine, from pre-school teaching, early-childhood study, childcare, speech and drama, tutoring or raising your own.
- Confident reading and writing of simplified Chinese characters and Hanyu Pinyin, the forms used in Singapore schools.
- Patience with progress that stays quiet for weeks, and a warm, steady manner on camera.
- If you teach from inside Singapore, eligibility to work there as a citizen, permanent resident or holder of a valid pass that allows this work.
Pay
Hourly rate for this role
S$25 to S$70 per hour
Where you sit in the band depends on the level you teach and the experience you bring. The rate is agreed before you accept an assignment and paid on schedule.
Teaching online from where you live
This role is 100% online and taught from where you live. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. You start with students in Singapore, and as intake grows Eduprime may also offer you students from other countries. Each offer depends on learners asking for your subject and level.

What you need
- A laptop or large tablet with a working camera and microphone, so a small child can see your face, your mouth shapes and the picture cards clearly.
- Something to write characters large enough for the camera: a small whiteboard, thick marker on paper, or a digital pen on a shared whiteboard.
- A stable broadband connection that holds a video call for the full lesson, plus a quiet, bright spot with a tidy background.
- A handful of props you can hold up: picture books, flashcards, a puppet or soft toy for dialogues.
- Free hours that line up with Singapore time (UTC+8), mainly late afternoons, early evenings and weekend mornings, when young children are rested and a parent is home.

Do I need to live in Singapore?
You can live anywhere with a good connection and hours that overlap with Singapore afternoons and weekends. Tutors inside Singapore teach online as long as they are eligible to work there, as a citizen, permanent resident or holder of a valid pass that allows this work.
Why is a parent present during lessons?
Young children learn best over video with an adult beside them. The parent helps with the device and sound, settles the child when attention fades, joins a song or a role-play, and hears first-hand what the child managed that day. It also keeps every lesson open and visible to the adult who registered the child, which is the standard we hold for teaching children online.
How are online lessons with young children different?
They move quickly between activities, lean heavily on pictures, songs and gestures, and run shorter than a school-age tuition lesson. The length is agreed for each child according to their age and attention span.
Do I need a teaching certificate?
A certificate helps and we welcome early-childhood qualifications, though what matters most is fluent Mandarin and real, comfortable experience with children in this age range.
Will I teach writing?
Writing comes later and lightly. Characters are introduced through recognition, stories and games first. Pinyin and short writing tasks join in once the child meets them at primary school, and dictation stays occasional and gentle.
Can I teach students outside Singapore?
