Online Malay tutor jobs with Eduprime follow a Mother Tongue subject that stays with a Singapore student from Primary 1 to junior college, graded for most students at PSLE, at O-Level and again at A-Level. Many of the students we teach speak Malay at home and still lose marks on the written paper, because the paper rewards bahasa baku: correct affixes, complete sentences, and a karangan that holds one clear line from the first paragraph to the last. Others meet Malay mainly in the classroom and need patient work on vocabulary and on speaking up in the oral. As an online Malay tutor with Eduprime you coach both kinds of learner in private video lessons, taught from the place you live.
Why teach Malay online with Eduprime
- Teach from home, wherever home is. Every lesson is online, so your commute ends at your desk.
- Stay with a student for years. Malay is examined at PSLE, again at O-Level and once more at JC, so a student can keep the same tutor from one national exam to the next.
- Students matched to what you teach. Our coordinators offer you students whose track, level and lesson hours fit what you tell us you can take.
- Malay learners abroad are starting to ask Eduprime for lessons. Singapore students come first, and overseas learners who fit your levels and hours can be offered to you next.
- Pay you can see before you start. The hourly rate is shown on this page and confirmed with you before your first lesson.
The role
What you will do
- Teach one-to-one Malay lessons by video at times agreed with each student in Singapore.
- Build every lesson on the exact Malay track the student is entered for: PSLE Malay or Foundation Malay, O-Level Malay, Higher Malay or Malay B, or H1 and H2 Malay at JC.
- Take a karangan from outline to final draft, and mark it for imbuhan, sentence structure and the apt use of peribahasa.
- Take apart the language-use section and the comprehension passages with the student until they can justify every answer in their own words.
- Rehearse the oral: reading a passage aloud with clear pronunciation, then holding a conversation about a video stimulus.
- Run listening comprehension practice at exam pace and review each missed question with the student.
- Leave a short note after each lesson on what was covered and what the next lessons will target, written for the student and, for a primary pupil, for the parent who enrolled them.
What you need
- Fluent written and spoken Malay at the formal register, because every lesson teaches the Malay exam paper itself.
- A good A-Level or equivalent pass in Malay, or a diploma or degree in Malay language, Malay literature or education.
- Clear written English, because lesson notes are usually written in English.
- Knowledge of the Singapore Malay paper formats, or the readiness to learn them before your first lesson.
- A regular weekly window that you can hold through a full school term.

Teaching online from where you live
This role is 100% online and taught from where you live. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. You start with students in Singapore, and as intake grows Eduprime may also offer you students from other countries. Each offer depends on learners asking for your subject and level.
Your setup
Your teaching setup
What you need
- A laptop or desktop with a webcam and a headset, so the student hears every vowel and word ending clearly during oral practice.
- A pen tablet or a shared digital whiteboard for writing out sentences and marking up a karangan while the student watches.
- A stable broadband connection that holds a full hour of video without dropping.
- A weekday teaching window inside Singapore's late afternoons and evenings (UTC+8), plus weekend mornings if you can spare them.

Questions
Questions from Malay tutors
Do I need to live in Singapore?
You teach from home, wherever you live. Unless you are eligible to work in Singapore, your lessons are given from outside Singapore, and your students join from their homes.
I learned my Malay in Malaysia, Brunei or Indonesia. Can I teach the Singapore papers?
Yes, when you write the formal Malay the Singapore papers mark. Spelling is shared across the region, while some everyday words differ. A Singapore paper expects kereta for a car where Indonesian uses mobil, and boleh where Indonesian uses bisa, so tutors schooled in Indonesian keep to the Malay word forms throughout.
Which levels can I choose?
You tell us the tracks you are comfortable with, from PSLE Malay and Foundation Malay to O-Level Malay, Higher Malay, Malay B, and H1 or H2 Malay at JC. We offer you students only at those levels.
What does an online Malay lesson look like?
A typical hour mixes written and spoken work: a karangan plan or a marked draft on the shared whiteboard, a set of language-use questions, and a few minutes of reading aloud or conversation practice for the oral. Written homework reaches you as a photo, and you return it marked.
Will I teach students outside Singapore?
Singapore students come first. When learners in other countries ask Eduprime for Malay, students whose level and hours fit yours may be offered to you, as often as those requests come in.
Do I need tutoring experience?
Prior tutoring is welcome and optional. What we look for is written Malay at exam standard and the patience to explain a correction until the student can make it alone.
How is my pay set?
The hourly rate is shown on this page. It is confirmed with you before your first lesson and paid on an agreed schedule for the lessons you teach.
