Apply to teach English online- S$25 to S$70 per hour
- Contract, flexible hours
- 100% online, from where you live

Online English tutor jobs here centre on a subject Singapore students are marked on in four parts: a writing paper, a paper of language use and comprehension, a listening paper and an oral. Most of that work already lives on a page, which is why English moves online so well. A composition can be written in a shared document during the lesson, marked in the margin while the student watches, and rewritten before the hour is out. We are hiring tutors who can read a Singapore script the way an examiner reads it and explain, in words a student can use, what would lift it. You teach from your own home, in any country, at times that meet Singapore's school evenings and weekends.
Why teach English online with Eduprime
- You work from where you live. Every lesson runs over live video, so your home city sets no limit on who you can teach.
- One syllabus, learned deeply. Your students follow the Singapore MOE English syllabus, so the formats you master for one student serve the next.
- English suits the screen. Compositions, situational writing and comprehension answers are written work, and marking them live in a shared document is often clearer than marking on paper.
- Continuity with the same student. Students here tend to keep one tutor through the exam year, so you see a student's writing grow from one term to the next.
- Room to grow as demand rises. You begin with students in Singapore, and as more learners choose online English, Eduprime may offer you further students, including students in other countries.
The role
What you will do
- Plan each lesson around the paper the student sits next: composition, situational writing, editing, comprehension or summary.
- Mark writing on screen against content and language separately, and leave the student with two changes to make before the next piece.
- Rehearse the oral over video, from reading a passage aloud with good pacing to answering a picture or topic question with a reason and an example.
- Build vocabulary and grammar from the student's own mistakes, keeping a running list the student can revise from.
- Set short practice between lessons and go through it at the start of the next one.
- Leave each student a brief progress note on what was covered and what comes next.
Who fits this role
- At least a year of teaching or tutoring English, to any age group and in any country.
- Written English accurate enough to explain why a sentence fails and how to repair it.
- Comfort with British spelling and usage, which Singapore schools mark against.
- Working knowledge of the PSLE or secondary English Language papers, or the readiness to learn their formats and marking before your first lesson.
- Clear spoken English on a video call, at a pace a primary pupil can follow.

Teaching online from where you live
This role is 100% online and taught from where you live. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. You start with students in Singapore, and as intake grows Eduprime may also offer you students from other countries. Each offer depends on learners asking for your subject and level.
Your setup
What your English desk needs
What you need
- A computer with a webcam and headphones fitted with a microphone, so reading aloud and oral practice come through clearly on both ends.
- Something to write on the screen with, like a stylus and tablet or a document camera, so you can underline, circle and comment on a composition while the student watches.
- Broadband that keeps the call and a shared writing document open side by side for the full hour without dropping.
- Free hours during Singapore's after-school evenings and weekend mornings (Singapore time, UTC+8), when most students sit down to English.

Questions
Questions from English tutors
Do I need to live in Singapore to take this English role?
No. Every lesson happens over video and you teach from your own home country. Tutors who are physically in Singapore need to be eligible to work there, and that eligibility is checked ahead of the opening lesson.
Which levels will I teach?
Mostly primary English leading up to the PSLE and secondary English Language leading up to the national exam. You choose the levels you are comfortable with when you set up your tutor account.
I have not taught the Singapore syllabus before. Can I still apply?
Yes, if you have at least a year of teaching or tutoring English and are ready to learn the Singapore papers. You should know the formats of the writing, comprehension and oral components of your chosen level before your first lesson.
When do lessons usually take place?
Mostly on Singapore weekday evenings, once school is out, and on weekend mornings. Your account records the hours you keep free, and students are matched to those hours.
Could I end up teaching English to students outside Singapore?
Your first students are in Singapore. Online English is growing with learners in other countries too, and Eduprime may put some of those students to you when they ask for the level and hours you teach.
How is pay set?
Pay is hourly in Singapore dollars, within the range shown on this page. The rate for each student depends on the level and your experience, and it is agreed before the first lesson.
