Become a tutor with Eduprime Singapore

Online History tutor jobs with Eduprime centre on one fact: in Singapore, History is examined in writing. A student sits a paper of sources on one side and structured essays on the other, and the marks go to the one who can explain what a source reveals and defend a judgement against the clock. Our online History tutors teach that craft over video, with the sources open on a shared screen and every essay marked in the document where the student wrote it. You teach from where you live, to students on the Singapore MOE and SEAB syllabus, on a contract with weekly hours you set.

Why teach History online with Eduprime

  • Students on named papers. Your first students sit Singapore History papers from O-Level to H2, so the preparation you build for one carries to the next.
  • Work that suits the screen. Sources, cartoons, speeches and essay drafts all sit in shared files, which makes History a natural subject to teach well online.
  • Hours around Singapore evenings. You choose weekly slots that overlap with after-school hours in Singapore, and we match students to the slots you open.
  • Room to grow beyond Singapore. As intake grows, Eduprime may offer you History students in other countries, each one asking for the level you teach.
  • Contract work on your terms. Each student is a separate agreement, with a rate inside the band on this page settled before the first lesson.

The role

What you will do

  • Teach to the paper the student sits, from O-Level History 2174 and the History elective in Humanities (Social Studies, History) 2261 to H1 History 8838 and H2 History 9174.
  • Walk through source-based questions step by step: provenance, inference, cross-reference against a second source, and a reasoned verdict on reliability or usefulness.
  • Plan structured essays with the student before they write, then rebuild weak paragraphs together on screen until the argument holds.
  • Mark written work between lessons in a shared document, with each comment pointing at the sentence the student should fix.
  • Build a chronology and an evidence bank with each student for the topics their syllabus sets.
  • Run timed source and essay practice under camera as the exam draws closer.
  • Give the student a short written update after each block of lessons.

What we look for

  • A strong personal result in History at the level you want to teach, or a degree built on historical reading and argument, such as history, political science, law or area studies.
  • Working knowledge of the current SEAB History syllabus and its question types for the levels you choose.
  • Clear written English, since most of your feedback reaches students on the page.
  • Previous tutoring is welcome. A strong History background is enough to apply.
  • Serving MOE teachers hold MOE approval before taking paid tuition.

Pay

Hourly rate for this role

S$25 to S$70 per hour

Where you sit in the band depends on the level you teach and the experience you bring. The rate is agreed before you accept an assignment and paid on schedule.

Teaching online from where you live

This role is 100% online and taught from where you live. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. You start with students in Singapore, and as intake grows Eduprime may also offer you students from other countries. Each offer depends on learners asking for your subject and level.

Your setup

Your teaching setup

What you need

  • A laptop or desktop with a working camera and microphone, so you can share sources and watch the student write.
  • A way to write on screen, such as a tablet with a stylus or a document camera, for annotating sources and sketching timelines.
  • An internet connection that holds a video call and a shared document open together for the full lesson.
  • Weekly hours that overlap with Singapore evenings and weekends (Singapore runs on UTC+8), when Secondary and JC students usually take tuition.

Questions

Questions from History tutors

Do I need to live in Singapore?

You teach from where you live, wherever that is. If you are in Singapore, online lessons follow the same eligibility as home tuition: Singapore citizens, permanent residents, and holders of a valid pass that allows this work.

Can I teach while I am visiting Singapore?

Lessons you give while you are physically in Singapore count as working in Singapore. During a visit you pause lessons unless you are eligible to work here, so tell us your travel dates early and we plan the student's lessons around them.

Which History syllabuses will I teach?

Your first students sit Singapore papers: O-Level History 2174, the History elective in Humanities (Social Studies, History) 2261, H1 History 8838 and H2 History 9174. Tell us which of these you can teach with confidence.

Could I get students from outside Singapore?

You could. As intake grows, Eduprime may offer you online students in other countries, and each offer depends on a learner there asking for History at your level in the hours you have open.

How do I mark essays online?

Students write in a shared document or upload a photo of handwritten work. You comment in the margin, and the next lesson opens with the student rewriting the sentences you marked.

How is the pay set?

The hourly band for this role is shown on this page. The rate for each student sits inside that band and is settled with you before the first lesson.
