Become a tutor with Eduprime Singapore

Online Principles of Accounts tutor jobs at Eduprime start with a subject most Singapore students meet for the first time in Secondary 3, where within a few months they are expected to prepare a statement of financial position with every heading in place and every adjustment carried through. Students come to us wanting a tutor who can make the logic of double entry click and then hold them to the layout the examiners reward. With Eduprime you do that work online, one student at a time, from your own desk. You follow the MOE syllabus, you choose the hours you teach, and you decide which matches to take. Your first students are in Singapore, and as learners in other countries ask Eduprime for an accounts tutor, you may be offered them too.

Why teach accounts online with Eduprime

  • You teach from home or wherever you are based, so the commute is the walk to your desk.
  • You set your own weekly hours around a day job, studies or a practice, and you accept or decline each match we send.
  • You go deep on one subject: O-Level Principles of Accounts and H2 Principles of Accounting, two syllabuses you come to know paper by paper.
  • Singapore students fill your first slots, and an accounts student abroad who asks for your level may be offered to you as well.
  • You keep the same student across terms whenever they choose to continue, so you can take a Secondary 3 beginner all the way to the O-Level paper.

The role

What you will do

  • Teach one-to-one online lessons on the MOE Principles of Accounts syllabus, and on H2 Principles of Accounting for JC students.
  • Build double entry from source documents and books of prime entry through the ledger to the trial balance.
  • Teach the adjustments that move grades: accruals and prepayments, depreciation, allowance for impairment of trade receivables, and inventory at the lower of cost and net realisable value.
  • Model statement layouts on screen and check the student's workings line by line, headings and labels included.
  • Walk through the errors a trial balance cannot reveal and the suspense account entries that clear the ones it can.
  • Set timed practice between lessons, mark it, and return specific written feedback.
  • Send Eduprime a short progress note each cycle so the student always knows where they stand.

What we look for

  • A degree, diploma or professional qualification in accountancy, finance or business, or strong personal results in O-Level or A-Level accounting.
  • Working command of the O-Level Principles of Accounts syllabus, and of H2 Principles of Accounting if you take JC students.
  • English clear enough, spoken and written, to explain the same entry three different ways until one lands.
  • Availability for at least one regular weekly slot through a full school term.
  • Previous tutoring experience is welcome and optional: we look at how you explain a journal entry more than at your years in front of students.

Teaching online from where you live

This role is 100% online and taught from where you live. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. You start with students in Singapore, and as intake grows Eduprime may also offer you students from other countries. Each offer depends on learners asking for your subject and level.

Your setup

Your teaching setup

What you need

  • A computer with camera and headset, able to show a ledger or a spreadsheet on screen while you talk it through.
  • A drawing tablet, touchscreen with stylus or document camera, so you can write T-accounts and statement layouts live while the student watches.
  • A stable broadband connection that holds a video call and a shared screen for a full lesson.
  • Teaching hours that fall on Singapore weekday evenings or weekends (UTC+8), since accounts students are free after school.

Questions

Questions from accounts tutors

Do I need to live in Singapore?

You teach from where you live, anywhere in the world. Online lessons are taught from outside Singapore unless you are eligible to work in Singapore. If you travel to Singapore without that eligibility, pause your lessons for the length of the visit.

Which levels will I teach?

Most students are in Secondary 3 and 4 taking O-Level Principles of Accounts. Some are JC students taking H2 Principles of Accounting, which adds company accounts and management accounting. You tell us which levels you are comfortable with and we match you only at those levels.

Do I need an accounting degree?

An accountancy, finance or business qualification helps, and a strong personal record in the subject also counts. What matters most is that you can lay out a set of financial statements cleanly and explain every figure in it to a fifteen-year-old.

How are students matched to me?

Each match starts with a student asking for an accounts tutor. We look at the level, the lesson times that student wants and the tutors free at those times, then offer the match to a tutor who fits. How many students you teach depends on those requests and on the hours you make available.

Could I teach students outside Singapore?

Yes, where the requests come in. Your early matches are Singapore students. Accounting is taught in many school systems, and when a learner abroad asks Eduprime for help at a level you teach, we may offer you that student to accept or decline.

How am I paid?

You are paid for each lesson taught, at the hourly rate shown on this page, on a fixed schedule once the lesson is logged. The rate within the band depends on the level you teach and your background.

What happens right after I apply?

We read your application and send you the link to create your educator account. Once your profile is complete, you can be offered matches at the levels and hours you listed.
